Target - Capex Review Close Window

‘I wanted to review our fit-out costs to see how competitively we were buying. I chose Dana to undertake it because of her global knowledge of retail formats. She identified a number of areas where significant savings could be made.’

I was asked by the CEO to look at their Capex expenditure on fit-outs, in relation to similar retailers globally, to understand where they were in relation to their peers, and where they should focus to achieve best value.

The review highlighted that Target was paying nearly twice as much as a mid market department store chain. This was followed up with a specific tender on some of the standard fixtures with new suppliers who would be manufacturing in China. This showed possible savings ranging from 25-70%.
